Admission

If you are coming from abroad you are very welcome to apply for a room at Studentergården. As we get a lot of applications it is important to note, that it is not easy to get a room at Studentergården, since we receive more applications than there are rooms available. Rooms are normally available only for students staying in Denmark for a longer period, and we do not have rooms available for a few days or a couple of weeks.

Application

To apply, please write a motivated application (maximum 3200 characters) in which you show us, who you are and why you would like to live here. Consider this a motivational letter where you tell us why it is you who should come live with us.

Also, please write your practicalities on when and for how long you would be able to stay and study documentation that state the above requirements is needed.

Information you have to upload when you apply:

  • Your written motivation.
  • Study documentation – You have graduated minimum 60 ECTS.
  • Enrollment documentation – This has to be a confirmation of enrollment from the university. Please make sure that your name appears on the documentation.

You can upload more documents than one, as long as we get the right information.

Please do not include photos of yourself or your name in written motivation, as we strive to keep an anonymised application process. Note that including photos of yourself or your name will result in your application be rejected.

You can read more about the correct documentation of student activity and passed ECTS points in this guide:

About deadline and admission

The deadlines for application are only twice a year, March 1st 23:59 and October 1st 23:59.

Please note that applications received earlier than 3 weeks before application deadline will not be taken into account. If you are accepted into the dormitory, there is usually a 3-8 months waiting time before you are actually assigned a room.

As we get lots of application you will receive an answer 4-6 weeks after application deadline. Please make sure this email has not ended in your spam mail.

Application website

Application and documentation for student activity are uploaded through the following portal: https://apply.studentergaarden.dk/.

NOTE: As of Spring 2025, Studentergaarden has switched to a new application system. This system is still under development, so there are some parts that are not correctly named on our end, or that shouldn’t be there, which can cause confusion. Therefore, the points below must be read so that you, as an applicant, are sure that you have filled in the correct information. See also image guides below. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  1. The sections ‘Contact information’, ‘Current accommodation’ and ‘Your current/upcoming studies’ should be filled in as specified in the application system. You are welcome to fill in the ‘Remarks’ section, if you find it relevant.
  2. In the ‘Previous education’ section, it is stated that “All applicants must have finished High School (or equivalent) with a GPA above 7 on the official Danish 7-point grading scale”, which is NOT the case for admission to Studentergaarden. The information for this section has no relevance in the application process or who will be admitted to Studentergaarden. However, the section must be filled in for the system to approve the application. Therefore, the information does not have to be factually correct, but you just have to write something that fills in the section (e.g. you can write that you went to Hogwarts and got an average of 100, as it is not relevant for the application).
  3. In the ‘Documents’ section, applicants must upload the three mandatory documents that are requested. Here, you have to upload your motivated application under ‘Written motivation’, your documentation for proof of enrollment under ‘Proof of enrollment’, and your documentation for 60 passed ECTS points under ‘High school diploma’. It is important to make sure that these documents have been uploaded, as they are the ones that are decisive for the possibility of being admitted to Studentergaarden.

Questions

You are welcome to write to info@studentergaarden.dk, if you have any questions about the required study documentation or the application process. Please be aware that for questions by email, there may well be a longer response time, as the email is answered by volunteer residents of the Gårdstyret. However, we do our best to respond as soon as possible!

Open House Event

Every half year we host an Open House Event a few weeks before the admission deadline. At this event you can hear more about what it is like living at the dormitory from current residents. Please see the page Open House for more information on the next Open House Event.
